-Tiger Project Twice Sixteen!-

http://www.tigerm.net
TigerM - TigerMvintage - [Cassette] what is The Starting Line & Spider7/

“While working as a caretaker at MGCM, for his stepbrother's Music Conservatory,
Tiger was introduced to the Roland Boss DR-5 Rhythm Section.

Using the MIDI instruments on Roland's DR-5, in a single month,
Tiger would produce over 250 unique arrangements.” [some call them "beats!" ^^]

This is me at 16 producing audio recordings for the first time into a dual Cassette Tape Deck

and my first time composing on record media of any kind excluding beyond recitals held at the Music Conservatory which were vide-camera VHS tape recordings of piano, wood-wind, horn, string and drum instrument performances recorded as Music Conservatory musicians would perform one aft the other to showcase specializing in an instrument (wiki or Google “recital” if-so desired).

This is not me on any piano string or drums though =3

“Making beats…?”

(I did not ever like to call them that at 16—but…)

 *****

Spider7

Instrumental House-style but done hip-hop/beat old-skool style.

FIRST Roland Boss DR-5 [analog] Rhythm Section recording I did at the age of 16 =)

[Twice that now (32) ]
Happy New Year! =D

Please enjoy ^_^

Sincerely,

-*Decision and Sixteen Years of Study, Production, Composing and Independence*- [(Balance)]

I decided when I learned about “Music Libraries” that was not the path for my music (any of it. =b)
In the year 2016 plus one (2017) services like SoundCloud, Newgrounds and Freesound honestly replace (in my humble opinion) the “lump sum” some collectors of collections of music (independent especially) in the corporate world (mostly “traditional” production and “industrial hardware” [like elevators =b] companies) are willing. The “lump sum” is not like the ASCAP “Blanket License” but long story told—
I did not share my music with people who wanted to buy it for some reason…
[even on the individual level.]

I compose for the music for the sake of itself and honest outlet of passion while performing/recording.

Analog and piano music I wanted to do for life and at 16 I began sharing recorded music in addition to piano and drum performances at recitals my family would have at different locations (beyond the Conservatory like the “Civic Center” at “Cultural Events” and students’ parent’s “Shrines” [Churches, Synagogues, Temples, etc.]) and instead of requesting money-- I’D GET cassettes to GIVE with my resources for comments. Expense to me was not repelling because the comments (face-to-face after I’d give my “beats” then see them again) from people who would usually explain “My favorite one is…”
^_^ I was happy “hearing back” and no amount of money [literally] was motivating me: I was working  already (with dad and my biological brother) and after buying CDs and gasoline -- I was happy giving.
[To stores and curious-and-eager-“I-want-to-hear-your-music” people =3]
Some people would comment “Man… you should tell people to buy your music …”

I continued to give my music away. (because I CRAVED the money they did not spend. =3 As in “They’re Free?” was my motivation =) The music was not placed online because I did not know how nor where to upload it at 16 in the year 2000. Only play and download games for my brothers over dial-up modem! XD

Locally and in the year people were proud “Y2K” did not end all computers (huh? oO)-- face-to-face I got used to eventually—initially though-- writing (A LOT) in my notepads with pen and ink (thoughts and poetry when idle) is what I liked [and once did but typing is faster!] (and more ‘professional’  for some).
Clepting one class (because mom taught typing--) I can type 105 Words Per Minute No errors! =3 =^^=

Anyway, I shared the way I did on tapes because “digital music singles” (“WAV” and “mp3 files” alone) were not respected like recorded media on Tapes and CDs in the Entertainment Industry or most people and my family and their friends didn’t use Twitter or Facebook --
…because they didn’t exist.

Anyway! Certainly hope You enjoy my TigerMVintage Music all done on the Roland Boss DR-5 direct-to-Cassette and later (in 2004 and 2005) placed into a Digital Audio Workstation recording each tape played as a full “Side A” then “Side B” “Studio Session” which I conducted on computer in my parents’ home after learning which PC programs to get, purchase and use (including a DR-5 MIDI GUI program). One program (Audacity) I learned to LOVE – it is “freeware” -- and with it I separated render-by-render “60 to 90 minute” “Recording Sessions” (hour and a half long WAV Files… (.() and set track song by song.

The first one of them is up which is the first organized DR-5 recording I did and was the first placed onto Cassette

“TigerM - TigerMVintage – Spider7” and I certainly hope You enjoy! =)

 -~ MGCM --

S.O.R.A. Today I still self-title “S.O.R.A.” thinking about my work, music, personal and performance surrounding situation at sixteen today--sixteen years later ^_^ “S.O.R.A.”

At sixteen, I had worked for MGCM -- my biological stepbrother’s business [in acronym the letters MGCM mean “Mustaqueem-Graydon Conservatory of Music, Inc.” which initially--] I began responsibly working at [cleaning floor and care-taking] at twelve years of age. I used to clean the [at start] single Compaq Presario computer and bathroom when the business was located in a Shopping complex in my home city during adolescence which rocked. Three years later in addition to working with my dad [HARD build and reconstruction and physical lifting work--] who in addition to a small business with my mother worked as a general contractor and self-manager with a degree in small business management-- I completed enough sweeping and mopping for at twelve and thirteen to be trusted with more than maintenance and care-taking.

In the year 2000 prior to beginning to record the songs I thought for the first time—[not just write poetry and sing aloud to instrumentals and video game music ^^;] I was trusted as a “Secretary” instructor Receptionist and account for MGCM which had a two-story physical structure attached to a small drive-up-metal-door service building also part of the facility. The place had once been a police station and in the past a topaz-colored old-bank with chandeliers, spectacular carpet an open-Hallway style dual-door entry-way and a HUGE brick-walled “vault” behind a heavy beige-painted door with “Wheel-and-lever” knob we named “The Drum Vault.”

Later the business would become “incorporated” but at the time I didn’t know what that was.^^;

The same 75 plus students continued their lessons at “Albany’s Only School of Music” which had its own commercial on Radio and a television broadcast motion picture advertisement as well with my stepbrother smiling and teaching students laughing together over classical music. =3 Wow. OO It was awesome! XD My sixteen-year-old “Secretary” job had a title of “Office Manager” issued by my stepbrother when I asked curiously, “what is a male secretary ?”

“Office manager” he responded officially with a nod and went into his office.

“I’m the office manager…” I would tell callers and write about [not in songs XD ] later.

“Secretary.” “Office-Manager.” “Receptionist.” “Accountant.” Today I call this “S.O.R.A.” [I know =… who cares? Keep reading. =F] In the year 2000 forward MGCM became incorporated. I was oblivious to the incorporation and share-holding element which at the time -- like “tax free income”-- I had no idea what it meant at 16 ^^; [Had not used H & R Block at sixteen either…] Just saw “Inc.” on the updated business logo and thought, “There is Inc. again.” Corporate styles I was aloof to at the time yet but “I-N-C” – I thought “all businesses can put that there right?”

Today I am proud of my stepbrother. ^_^

The music I would begin making on analog instruments at MGCM would receive guidance from music in games like Sim City and Comix Zone on PC but be complete originals. =^^ I’d composed music since adolescence but as a teen Crusader: No Remorse. Crusader No Regret. Strike Commander. Raptor: Call of The Shadows. Death Rally racing. Need For Speed. These games BATHED my subconscious in their “infectious” MIDI loops. I’d really remember music from games like Command & Conquer: Red Alert, DooM, StarCraft, Darius Gaiden […getting WAY ahead tho ^^;] and Wipeout did inspire listening too. Soon CD-ROMs in my car stereo would become the “norm” while driving. “Ecco” for New Age and “Cyclones” for dance and “Cyberspeed” for ‘day drive music’ would start up and pleasantly and surprisingly (gratefully and awesomely!) “run-off-the-discs” starting at “track 02” [FX Fighter I sang to and Wipeout got ‘stories-of-what-is-happening’ while music “ran-off-the-disc” past “track 01” or “data track.”]

Quake II honestly (at 16) taught me to appreciate new kinds of music… music I did not experience beyond the video game honestly but subtly guided by. Respect indeed bloomed from my playing the video game featuring Rock music – not the gameplay alone—but MUSIC too I learned to like rock music because of completing the video game Quake Two at sixteen into college it’d follow. Although I didn’t think of it at the time--it would be three-future years ‘til…

Answering telephones and requests became part of my four-hundred-a-month tax free salary [which I would spend mostly on gas, online items / web orders & new music on Compact Discs].

I had no idea why “tax free salary” was so awesome but was told by a friend “That’s really good!” I would be entrusted to account money as well being [what I call today] a “S.O.R.A.” =3 Indeed it was not without lesson. u.u I recall this one time I got a weird feeling as one payer left after issuing a seventy-five dollar check for a month’s lessons. I didn’t know it until I was told but the paper check had no signature— I got asked why. My boss although family; told me I did an outstanding job then explained that I should have made sure the check was signed before the payer left. Indeed. Lesson stuck with me. “Accounting.” “It is important paper checks have sig.”

Don’t laugh. u.u =B Home-schooled

Other secretaries [mostly women] were hired and my time was not always spent “Secretary, Office Management, Receptionist and Accounting” ^^ I played piano on some of the various ones at the school in individual rooms while reading music less than playing what my own compositions and would drum in the near-sound-proof “Drum Vault” so-as-long as the door was closed it was “near sound-proof.” ^^; Sometimes I would play a song [usually original] onto physical synthesizer-keyboard on “one-time” record and play drums to it ^_^ After playing, the recorded song would “go away” when the “off button” was hit on the electronic keyboard. At the time—“solo jam sessions” didn’t bother me as this ‘effort-into-air’ I did not perceive as such as until years later when I began...

Later after cleaning up my office and organizing beginner and child song books, I was cleared to instruct sometime by the business owner who trusted the lessons I had learned while younger and in the-then newly established “Gifted Musician” program -- could indeed be taught to others. One day, I taught one gal-friend how to play on piano “Beethoven’s fifth.” That is how it started.

Then came the Roland Boss DR-5 Rhythm Section, a Windows NT network and my stepbrother [biologically] would awesomely begin populating and beginning the construction of an amazing professional recording studio…

Every person out of 75 students plays an instrument or is a multi-instrumentalist (plays more than one instrument) at the music conservatory where my friends and family in music work. My dad at the time (E.Y.N.B.) does not play an instrument -- but DJ’d records on vinyl, cassette and 8-track while stationed in California U.S.A. and everyone else DOES play an instrument all around! (sister, students, brothers etc.etera!) This is a point five thousand forty days plus past to current day (you may do the minutes math ) in a year 2000 less sixteen—when I was -- well! Sixteen! And coincidentally trusted by friends family and students’ parents while working at Music School and Conservatory MGCM (and later “Inc.”) as I had two years prior before but now in 2000 with a new set of jobs [including accounting money] + teaching music lessons =)

In addition to instructing drums and piano (notes!! ^^) to people my age and otherwise; I placed programs-to-server on a new-at-the-time Windows NT (2000) server (installing Command & Conquer and Quake 2 (II) too with permission getting employees to play video games online together after hours and have fun in-company ! =3 ) and answered phones as a receptionist.

At the Conservatory req. dressed professionally performing in summer and prodigy / gifted piano programs while not working there part or full time; the Roland Boss DR-5 d-R Rhythm section [I did not call it “Dr. Rhythm Section” ^^;] came into my discovery. For the first time in my life, I began the routine of recording music sometimes eight hours a day and constantly composed on.

I would compose over a quarter of a thousand [two-hundred fifty] original tunes.

In all honesty at the very start initially before recording…

I was not educated how to use the DR-5 at sixteen or prior and so decided to self-teach myself programming and setup process of making songs and composing tracks on the drum machine (there was no manual) and began impressing music students, family and curious musicians and friends as I continued to record. Still 16, one time at Sam’s Club to hear my music on a big watt system I put one of my cassettes (recorded on a dual-deck with volume-level lights) into a store sound system and people asked me about it. I explained the music and what the DR-5 is and does

As there was no manual with the DR-5 at the Music Conservatory and no one present who knew how to ‘play it’ or program the Analog-MIDI-capable device I am very proud of all of this. =)

I didn’t want my music to go (or time spent recording it to disappear) as memory on the Roland Boss DR-5 is limited so asking my older sibling and dad (E.Y.N.B.) for borrowed use of it—I connected a dual-deck professional cassette recorder to the Roland DR-5 (<- not forgetting Boss =^_^=) and in real-time [complete with knob spinning on the Boss and tape syncing on the twin tape-deck to record my music in sequence section by section] recorded each track. Yes! ^_^

I simply was recording for fun and to keep my original music track by track “worked” without pay what some in 2000 were paid to engineer. I did not know I was doing anything great! Apparently Aphex Twin and Orbital [“ The BOX ” ] were doing these kinds of things and other star producers and DJs too somewhere in Asia, U.K., Africa and Europe via Australia but in U.S.A. and educated in a small city where that kind of music was not very popular in early 2000;

The internet {still developing} was no more likely to suggest “New World Order” than “Underworld”  (there was no YouTube or Myspace) and many BBS boards, Instant Messengers and “Webhead sites” (think Newgrounds and Bemanistyle and Deviantart) that I liked and shared artwork across were not considered “Social Networks” at the time--and concerned varying adults instead of inspiring them—as well as newpapers and broadcast TV. (“My child is on the computer all day—why isn’t she/he social?” “If You have been on the computer all day… you may want to see if you have an internet addiction…”) Yeha.

[(.( Part of me wanted to become a counselor specifically for zero-technology adults at 16 as I KNEW even by the games and music discussed online-- that people online myself-not-excluded were more social-- and to me-- more interesting across more subjects-- than most public-feeding individuals who met face-to-face-.. to me-- the future would be BBS boards and ecommerce.)

Anyway (nice tangent there…=3) Cellphones were not common worldwide either.

Musically though with little mainstream radio and industry understanding at sixteen--I still  thought people like Mariah Carey and Vanessa Williams made their own beats and the radio was called to play the music they recorded and then sang to before making a music video for MTV. [or VH1 or BET]

Indeed before realizing so much could be completed on one device I had thought everyone did their own beats and music and radio calling and Cassette / Vinyl / CD selling. [Seriously] I didn’t know about ASCAP (or any organization specialized for musicians or otherwise) besides labels. And I didn’t want a label [literally]. I shared my music with friends, family and strangers alike. Now I REALLY thought “Everyone does this!” (makes beats and sings / raps to them) Anyway. That’s almost two pages in Word 2007. (I like Word 2007 over notepad right now..)

What “ TigerMvintage ” will share is my starting cassettes that have not to date been put online.

I’ll spare You the details (that could take hours honestly…) but you are welcome to enjoy !

Roland Boss DR-5: 250 plus original recordings that started at age 16. Converted to WAV At 19.

These are labors of love [NOT hate!] All instrumental and done for initially grassroots responses.

All 250 plus songs from me as a teen at MGCM and beyond =) -> —preserved for Your listen.

My teen-age, adolescence in music and childhood is safe and trusted to You starting 2017.

Don’t be too mean on the reviews.

Please enjoy. ^_^

P.S. Thank You for reading.

By the way in case you’re using a DR-5 or ever do—

I’ll be brief

Timeline: MIDI cables on eBay [still have them]. They connected to the Roland Boss Rhythm Section. Each song on cassette (I learned may play to a PC) was put to a twin-to-one audio outlet with “Direct-to-soundcard” fitting adapter connecting it (headphones width audio jack re-sizer).

[Available offline in 2000 but likely everywhere Best Buy, Wal-Mart, eBay, Amazon.]

Enjoy the music on PC or move to blank CD-R if wanted.

I know I’m not doing anything over-the-top here.

Simply recorded a lot of music in 30 years plus two and simply want to share it. =)

The stuff here 2017 – 16 years ago (at half my time in Human existence 365 times 16--)

Was composed for the same reasons I still do all music today:

honest Love and adoration for the craft and artists and audience as a whole.

Stay Awesome and True To You
